A cedar-toned bungalow tucked among evergreens with granite borders, tidy gravel beds, black shutters, and a pair of vintage skis by the entry. The new windows needed to sharpen this calm, not compete with it.

Design moves that matter
Scope: 25 windows and 2 sliding doors.
Spec: triple-pane with grills, exterior colour black.
Black is still very much on trend, and here it ties the composition together. The frames align with the black garage doors, gutters, and lantern sconces, turning the lighter siding into a backdrop. Slim grills keep the cottage vocabulary while the narrower sightlines make the exterior read clean and intentional.

The back elevation
A faceted balcony steps off the main floor. Below, the walkout level is stitched with tall windows that frame the trees like artwork. Two new sliding doors create an easy loop from kitchen to deck to stone path and garden beds, so the backyard functions like a second living room.

Comfort under smoky skies
Installation happened during the wildfire haze that rolled across Ontario. The tight seals and triple-pane glass immediately improved air quality control, reduced drafts, and quieted the interior. Day to day the house now holds temperature better, and views feel crisper through the black “picture frame” lines.
“Vitlay and his crew were outstanding. On time, meticulous, and the finish is impeccable. We’re thrilled with the result.”
