There’s a moment in early spring at the cottage when everything feels paused. Snow still lingers in patches, the ground hasn’t quite decided what season it belongs to, and the place sits quietly, waiting for summer to arrive.
This Terra Nova cottage was in that exact moment.

From the outside, it already had character you don’t try to reinvent. Deep wood tones, long rooflines, a structure that stretches into the trees rather than standing apart from them. The kind of place that feels like it’s been there longer than it actually has.
Nothing needed to be changed. Just… finished properly.
Keeping the feeling, tightening the details
The choice here wasn’t about transformation. It was about alignment.
Nine draftLOCK windows and three doors, all done in a custom brown tone, were selected to sit naturally within the wood exterior. Not contrast it. Not modernize it. Just belong.
And they do.

From a distance, nothing jumps out at you. But the closer you get, the more you notice the precision. Cleaner lines. Better proportions. Glass that reflects the trees instead of breaking the view.
Even the doors feel like they were always meant to be there, quietly anchoring each section of the cottage.

Ready before anyone arrives
The work was completed in early spring, before the first real stretch of warm weekends.
No rush. No noise during the season. By the time the cottage starts to fill up again, everything is already done. Windows sealed. Doors solid. Views uninterrupted.
That’s the part most people don’t see, but always feel.
“It doesn’t look new, and that’s exactly why it works. It just feels right now. Warmer, quieter, and more connected to everything outside.”
If you have a place like this…
You don’t need to change it.
But you can make it feel complete.
